Megan Hall has been cultivating the world of art and nurturing student artists for over four decades, across six different countries.

Born in Sydney with the heart of a wanderer, Megan now calls the picturesque Bayside of Melbourne her home. Art, to her, is a continuously evolving medium of personal expression.

Her approach involves subjects that are imbued with a profound depth of context and a need to explore female experience. She aims to create a sense of warmth and connection, inviting viewers to embrace their own memories. While Megan is most known for her large oil paintings, her broader practice extends to acrylics, lino printing, ceramics, and mixed media works on paper. Her artistic pursuits have led to joint exhibitions in Asia, and Melbourne

Megan's recent work is deeply rooted in her need to explore and comprehend the female perspective. Drawing inspiration from her rich lived experiences throughout Southeast Asia, she portrays and invents women in her art. Whether it's a meticulously rendered nude, a bird captured mid-flight, or the intricate folds and concealed nuances found in luxuriously draped fabric within a still life, her creations are a tapestry of intricate complexities.

Her subject matter embodies strength, vulnerability, fear, empathy, and humour. Megan shares stories not necessarily her own but those she has encountered during her travels—narratives exchanged in a circle while mastering an ancient craft in Laos or shared over a beer with locals in a rustic Australian pub. After imparting her wisdom to countless fine arts students throughout her teaching career and raising two creative and self-assured children, Megan is now poised to capture the essence of what she observes.
